Ivrea. From today the blue stripes return to the hospital area

Thirty places in piazza della Credenza and via del Paione Stop also at the free parking lot in Castiglia for health care

IVREA. From this morning, Monday 26 July, the parking lots in piazza della Credenza and via del Paione, the blue stalls on the square and the access ramp to the hospital, are back on payment. This was decided by the municipal administration. The cost of parking in the blue lines is one euro per hour. The square and the access ramp had been vacated over a year ago. In Piazza della Credenza the anti-Covid triage tent had remained for a long time and, subsequently, the area was used as a rest area for emergency vehicles. In the most difficult months of the pandemic, with hospitals saturated with Covid patients even in serious condition, it was necessary to have adequate space for ambulances. Now, as the pressure of Covid patients on hospitals has ceased, it has been decided to return to the payment of stalls as it happened before the pandemic, to allow hospital users to stop in the square and a rotation of the spaces. “We asked the health management – explains Giuliano Balzola, councilor for mobility and traffic – if they still needed the square for emergency vehicles. And having ceased the emergency situation, we therefore return to the situation prior to the pandemic, with the payment in the blue stripes ». There are about thirty blue car parks in the area adjacent to the hospital. At the beginning of August, Ivrea parking will draw two pink stalls, for pregnant women or with small children. Stalls that will however remain for a fee.

Among the novelties related to parking, the blue-striped parking lot on the top floor of the car park in via della Castiglia has also returned to Ivrea, since last November dedicated to the exclusive use of hospital staff after displaying a declaration on the dashboard that certifies that they are employees of the health care company. From 1 July, the car park (43 spaces) is no longer free for hospital staff. «Last April we talked about the case with the hospital management and with the Uil and Nursind union – underlines the commissioner Balzola -. That car park has therefore returned to the availability of Ivrea car parks to which, however, we have asked to find a form of subsidized subscription for hospital staff ». From Ivrea car parks confirm that, for the hospital staff, upon presentation of the certificate already used for free parking in the last seven months, a subscription for twenty euros per month can be activated to park on the top floor of the car park . Since last July, therefore, the stalls are paid again and the subscriptions activated for hospital staff are for now only three.
