According to the fire risk map of the Environmental Agency, Läänemaa has a class V fire risk, i.e. the fire risk is extremely high. This means that the forest fire detection system is working and the emergency services are ready to extinguish forest fires.
The risk of fire is extremely high all over Estonia, but in some places there is a high or class IV fire risk. According to the prediction of the Environmental Agency, the risk of fire will remain extremely high at least until the end of the week. Although showers may rain across Estonia from Tuesday to Thursday, this does not reduce the risk of fire.
With class V fire danger, the rescue agency can prohibit making a fire outside the hearth in the forest, using a barbecue device, smoking or staying in an unfamiliar forest.
Over the weekend, rescuers went to put out three waste fires both in the city of Haapsalu and in the municipality of Lääne-Nigula.
