UDINE. Growing numbers are those shown by the regional bulletin on Covid on Thursday 11 November: in fact, the new cases of coronavirus positivity rise to 650, with 6 deaths.

Specifically, on 7,805 molecular swabs 609 new infections were detected with a positivity rate of 7.8%. In addition, 21,574 rapid antigenic tests have been carried out, from which 41 cases (0.19%) were detected.

On the same day there were 6 deaths: a 91-year-old man from Trieste who died in hospital, an 87-year-old man and an 86-year-old man both from Pordenone who died in hospital, a 95-year-old man from Savogna d’Isonzo who died in hospital, a 90-year-old woman from Ronchi dei Legionari who died in a residence for the elderly and an 82-year-old man from Staranzano who died in hospital.

There are 19 people admitted to intensive care, while patients in other departments are 127.

The data were illustrated by the Deputy Governor of the Region with responsibility for Health, Riccardo Riccardi, highlighting that «the significant increase in infections today recorded in Friuli Venezia Giulia is reflected in a marked way on isolation, while hospital demand remains stable. A situation that confirms the effectiveness of the vaccine in avoiding, in the event of contagion, the onset of symptoms so severe as to require hospitalization “.

Since the onset of the pandemic, deaths have risen overall to 3,891, with the following territorial subdivision: 863 in Trieste, 2,032 in Udine, 689 in Pordenone and 307 in Gorizia. The totally healed are 112,825, the clinically healed 158, while the people in isolation are 3,867. In the same period, a total of 120,887 people were positive (the total number of cases was reduced by one unit following an antigen test not confirmed by the molecular swab) with the following territorial subdivision: 26,558 in Trieste, 54,308 in Udine, 23,736 a Pordenone, 14.607 in Gorizia and 1.678 from outside the region.

With regard to the cases registered within the regional health service: the positive results of a doctor, 3 nurses, 2 social health workers, a technician, a health assistant and a social worker were detected at the Giuliano Isontina university health service; to the Friuli Centrale University Health Authority of a nurse, a midwife and a laboratory technician; to the Western Friuli Health Authority of a nurse and 2 administrators. Finally, with regard to residences for the elderly, 8 cases were found among operators (Trieste, Gorizia Palmanova, Muggia, Monfalcone) and 2 among guests (Trieste and Gorizia).

A worrying growth is also confirmed by the monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation which for Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the week from 3 to 9 November, records a deteriorating performance for currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (292, against 187 the previous week). There was an increase in new cases (53.6%) compared to 7 days earlier.

The beds occupied by Covid patients in the medical area (10%) are below the saturation threshold, while those in intensive care (11%) exceed it.

This is what emerges from the weekly monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation on the progress of the pandemic. Regarding the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week, Trieste marks the highest value among the Italian provinces: 479. Gorizia (third after Bolzano) records 221, Udine 121, Pordenone 93.

The population that has completed the vaccination cycle is 74.5% (Italy average 76.4%), to which is added a further 2.9% (Italy average 2.6%) with the first dose only; the vaccination coverage rate with the booster dose is 26.7% (Italy average 39.5%); the vaccination coverage rate with additional dose is 47.8% (Italy average 43.1%).
