In Piazza dei Martiri, the ceremony began at the flagpole with the raising of the flag, to the rhythm of the hymn by Mameli and continued at the monuments of the Resistance with the speeches of the mayor Jacopo Massaro and the orator Don Albino Bizzotto of Beati i Builduttori di Pace . The mayor insisted for the last time on the need to be deeper, along the lines of what the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella had said in recent days, to study and learn more to understand what is happening not only in Italy, but also throughout the rest of the world, with particular reference to the war in Ukraine. The values of the Resistance, which were valid then, are still valid now.

Bizzotto recalled his experience in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in 1992 at the beginning of the siege of the Serbian army which will last for four years: “We must continue to fight for the values of the Resistance and remember all those who gave their lives to our freedom. Those who preceded us had entered the Resistance as a subject and left it as a citizen ».
