Low hotel availability, harleysti diverted from Feltre to Bassano

The test ride of the new models focused on Valbelluna but 350 beds would have been needed. Gorza (Dolomiti Prealpi consortium): with these structures, great events are utopia

FELT. There is no doubt for Lionello Gorza, president of the Dolomiti Prealpi Consortium. “Until we have some nice hotel with a hundred seats, we can forget the big events.” Will arrive? And maybe he himself gives us a thought? The tour operator who brought Pedavena back to life smiles. «I – he says – have already given».

But let’s see what happened. In recent days, in the Veranda room of the Pedavena Brewery, Gorza hosted the annual assembly of the members of the Consortium. There he denounced the lack of beds, especially as regards the larger groups. And this shortage sometimes precludes the possibility of hosting important events. As in the case of the Harley Davidson rally that was to come to the area in June. “The request was for 350 beds, which could not be made available, with the result that the event was moved to Bassano”. Too bad indeed.

The first Pan America Experience Tour started from Harley-Davidson Treviso on Monday 25th April: the test ride involving the whole of Italy on the new range of Harley-Davidson Adventure Touring models, made available for the official stores. A stop on this tour should also have been Feltre, with accommodation nearby, but no more than five or ten kilometers away. “Unfortunately we have not been able to recover group hospitality in this short range, for 350 people. And this is not the first time it has happened. We have already had to give up on many events », Gorza admits.

Feltrino has not a few beds, actually, about seven hundred. And if you go a little further, you get to a thousand. “It should be borne in mind – underlines the tourist entrepreneur – that for the Gran Fondo, with thousands of visitors, the reception takes place even sixty, even seventy kilometers away”. And, mind you, towards Treviso rather than Cortina, because precisely the most capable hotels are found only outside the province. “Fortunately, in our area we have many B & Bs, agritourisms, small hotels, but the groups that participate in these events, in particular in gatherings, aim to stay together. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer more than a few dozen places in the same building ». Not for this, however, Gorza imagines things big, together with his collaborators.

In the summer of 2022, the calendar of outings in the Discovery Valbelluna territory will return, along with the high altitude concerts of the Dolomiti Arena and, in September, the now consolidated appointment with the Tour de Friends. And in June Feltre and Valbelluna will be the protagonists of the National Week of Cai hiking, an event organized by the Feltre section of the Italian Alpine Club, of which the Consortium is an operational partner. Will the Olympic Village, for the part that will remain, represent the largest accommodation facility in the province in the future? “Yes, but we also need an important capacity to welcome down here, between Feltre and Belluno,” insists Gorza.
