Low-income boys and girls will be able to access free functional surgeries

For the second consecutive year, doctors Mónica Restrepo, a pediatric surgeon, and Simón Pedro Aristizabal, a pediatric orthopedist, will help low-income children who need surgery to improve their quality of life. This thanks to the success of the first day of free surgeries carried out in 2023.
The initiative, called Clementina, seeks to exceed the goal of eight surgeries performed the previous year, with patients who have not been able to access surgical services through the regular health system. The surgeries will take place the last week of May in the city of Medellín and the call closes on March 18.
“The procedures that will be performed will be general or urological surgery for children and pediatric orthopedic surgery. We are waiting to see if we can confirm other specialties, but for now those are the ones,” say spokespersons for the strategy.
To be beneficiaries of this day, families must fill out a simple form to determine if they are candidates for surgery that changes the children’s lives.

This process is carried out with the help of the Patronato Foundation, who organize the information and maintain a relationship with the families before, during and after the surgical process.
The Clementina initiative is a non-profit activity and has a social focus, as a way of giving back to society an act of love.
