The president of industrialists Lorraine Berton is convinced: “Only in this way can we stop the drain of our brains”

BELLUNO. Not only must the emigration of young brains be stopped, but it must also be imported from outside, in order to consolidate the ongoing growth. Which is double digits. This was stated by Lorraine Berton, president of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti, presenting the new courses of Luiss. And admitting to being enthusiastic about the memberships.

We will start immediately with two masters, those in Tourism Management and Sales & Account Management. Which suggests that the tourist activity is also restarting. And that this can multiply in view of the 2026 Olympics. «The Belluno economy is doing very well. The data are even better “, he insisted,” than those that are told. But the stability of this economy is linked to training, especially to higher education. There are industries that are putting their roots back in the foothills of the Dolomites », Berton admitted,« because they know that here they find answers to the professional specialization needs of collaborators, including managers: from Luiss to ITS in mechatronics ». Consequently, the need arises that the best young people do not leave these valleys. And indeed that others, equally good, arrive from outside the province. Starting with the neighboring territories.

In 20 years, the province of Belluno has lost an average of 541 young people a year, due to missing births or emigration. “We are referring only to the age group between 25 and 29 years,” specifies the sociologist Diego Cason. “We had 15,709 young people in 2000, we have 4,879 in 2020”. With age, between 20 and 24 the Belluno area has fortunately lost only 3,000 children in 20 years, therefore an average of 150 a year. The economic categories, therefore, have more than one reason to be worried, indeed alarmed. In the age group between 18 and 35 years, the young people of Belluno registered in the AIRE, the registry of Italians abroad are 7,722. In recent years, the average number of brains that have emigrated (abroad) has been 1,292 young people, according to the counts of the sociologist Cason. Then there are the people of Belluno who have left the Dolomites for some other Italian province.

The young immigrants, on the other hand? Last year it was 3,304. “If the economic categories, but above all the institutions, already warned 20 years ago, do not run for cover, and among other things with adequate training”, notes Cason, “it is evident that the province will have difficulty surviving in terms of industrialization and other productive activities “. Enzo Peruffo, of the Luiss Business School, presenting in detail the first courses of the next year, confirmed that “Belluno is becoming a model” in the training offer to young people. A model, he said, for all of Italy. And he specified that there will be no guaranteed future for industry and other activities if we do not go through specialization. Even, in fact, in the same tourism.

The tourism master will teach how to manage destinations and events, to learn Digital Marketing techniques and tools and to use Social Media, to design business models iinnovative for hospitality, to analyze price and cost strategies in the hotel sector, to exploit the potential of Winter and Sport Tourism, especially to develop sustainable tourism.

The master in Marketing Management will allow you to acquire innovative tools and techniques to improve sales processes and the interaction with the supply chain and company logistics. It will cover the analysis of consumer behavior and teach how to carry out market research and data analysis. «Higher education will contribute, more than we think,», concluded the president of Confindustria, «to give added value to the territory. And I am convinced that the young will return. Indeed, those who are there will not escape. Because everyone will find here the best opportunities they are looking for ».
