Major works, construction sites at risk of closure: 3 billion against increases and fast cash

For large strategic road and railway works, in progress or about to be set up, contractors calculate an additional cost for the increase in the prices of materials and energy of approximately 3 billion until 2023.

Large construction sites at risk

These are the resources that are needed for the decree-law scheduled at the Council of Ministers at the weekend to avoid the blockage of large construction sites such as the Third railway crossing, the Brescia-Padua high-speed railway, the Naples-Bari railway, the 106 Jonica state road .

These are extra costs estimated by the contractors for three years of production: 400 million are used for the works carried out in 2021 (in this case the additional cost is calculated on the basis of a price list updated in January 2022 and is net of the compensations already adopted), 1 , 25 billion for the compensation of works carried out or planned in 2022 (based on a price list updated to the first quarter of 2022) and about 1.5 billion estimated for the work progress (Sal) planned for 2023 on the basis of a new mechanism price review.

This latest estimate, which also takes into account the prices updated to date, may fluctuate upwards or downwards depending on whether prices in the coming months continue to rise or, vice versa, begin to fall.

These sums are first of all necessary to make the compensation for the work in progress and therefore to avoid the blocking of construction sites which, without adequate measures, is considered imminent.
