Their hibernation will end in six weeks at the latest. They swarm out from Albufera Park, a wetland in the north of Mallorca. First it begins to swarm on the narrow asphalt paths around the swamp. Then they whir across the island, past meter-high reeds, Mediterranean fruit trees and the historic, typically Mallorcan windmills. Many people are drawn to heights; after all, the mountains are at their feet.
