A thug breaks down the door and after beating up the old man took away money and a rifle
MANDAS. Brutal home robbery yesterday evening 11 November in Mandas, in Southern Sardinia. An 89-year-old elderly man was beaten. The victim was transported in yellow code to the San Gavino hospital. The episode, according to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri of the Company of Dolianova and the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Cagliari, took place around 8 pm. A criminal with his face covered – we do not know if he was armed – broke down the door of the house of the pensioner. He attacked him by hitting him with slaps, kicks and punches, then threatened him forcing him to indicate where he was hiding the money. I took money and the shotgun escaped.
Despite his injuries, the elderly man managed to reach the neighbors’ home and raise the alarm. The doctors of 118, the Carabinieri of Mandas and of the Company of Dolianova and the specialists of the investigative unit of the provincial command intervened on the spot. The injured, transported to hospital, sustained several injuries and a suspected fracture. The carabinieri are now working in an attempt to recover elements useful for identifying the robber, the victim’s home has been passed inch by inch.
