Mattarella revokes honors to four Russians

Italy revokes the honor of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Star of Italy to Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Commerce, “for unworthiness”. This was established by the decree of 9 May of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella (on the proposal of the Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio), published in the Official Gazette of 25 May. These are the first honors revoked from Russian citizens since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

A second decree, again signed by the Head of State – again at Di Maio’s proposal – revokes “for unworthiness” also the honor of Commander of the Order of the Star of Italy to Viktor Leonidovich Evtukhov, Russian Secretary of State and Andrey Leonidovich Kostin, President of the Russian Bank Vtb.
