The most wanted man in Italy, a fugitive since June 1993, has become a grandfather. The daughter of the mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, 59 years old, Lorenza Alagna, who bears the surname of her mother Francesca and the name of her paternal grandmother, on July 14 gave birth to a child, had with her partner, a young man from Castelvetrano and totally out of from the mafia circuit. The child is not named like his grandfather Matteo. Lorenza is 26 years old and has long since left the house of her paternal grandmother in Castelvetrano, where she lived with her mother, choosing to live free without having to carry the weight of her father’s surname which, however, she has in no way repudiated and which, according to investigators, he would never see.
Interceptions that date back to about ten years ago, during the investigations of the “Golem” operation coordinated by the Palermo anti-mafia district prosecutor and conducted by the Trapani Mobile Squad, then directed by the current head of the Central Anticrime Service of the Interior Ministry, Giuseppe Linares, revealed the nervousness of Lorenza Santangelo, widow of Don Ciccio Messina Denaro, patriarch of the Belicina mafia, and whose mafia legacy passed to his son Matteo at the time of his death, in November 1998, while he was a fugitive, with Matteo. The old woman complained that her son Matteo, who had never seen his daughter (who instead, while he was living with his grandmother, was honored with gifts from members of the local mafia), and showed his displeasure by discussing with the other his son, Salvatore, who until 1998 had remained unsuspected, so much so that he was able to sit at the direction of an agency of a banking institution, the Banca Sicula of the D’Al family, at whose service the Messina Denaro were the farmer in his lands (Tonino D’Alì, a former senator, has just been sentenced to six years for external competition in the mafia association, also for close relations with the notorious leaders of Cosa Nostra Trapani).
Shortly after there was the decision of Francesca Alagna to leave the Messina Denaro home, in via Alberto Mario in Castelvetrano, taking with her the then very young daughter Lorenza, who had grown up in a house where the photos of her grandfather stood out in every room. , Don Ciccio, and of his father, Matteo, and where the rules were also dictated by the sisters of the fugitive Mafia leader. One of these, Patrizia, is in prison on charges of mafia association. Years ago, al Tg2, behind the lowered shutters of her home the young Lorenza decided to speak, without however denying her father: «I don’t want to give interviews, I don’t want to be in the spotlight. That’s enough. I am a very normal girl like all the others. I want to be left alone. You have to pretend that I don’t exist ». On his Facebook profile which he then decided to close he had written showing his anguish: “How much I would like the affection of a person and unfortunately this person is not present at my side and will never be present because of fate …”.
Lorenza has thus chosen to live a life of her own, like all the girls of her age after graduating from high school and trying to achieve a degree. His partner is a young Castelvetranese, outside the mafia circuit who remains very present in Castelvetrano, also linked to the world of Freemasonry and with intertwining that goes outside of Sicily itself. Knowing, thanks to the judicial findings, the character of the mafia culture that belongs to the Messina Denaro family, surely this union will not agree with the aunts of the young Lorenza. Matteo Messina Denaro was recently sentenced to yet another life sentence by the Court of Assise of Caltanissetta, placed at the center of the mafia strategy that in 1992 led to the massacres of Capaci and via d’Amelio where the judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo were torn apart by the mafia tritolo Purse.
Massacres that were decided during a summit in Castelvetrano in 1991 present the head of the heads of Cosa Nostra Totò Riina, some time before his arrest which put an end to the long inaction. Matteo Messina Denaro took for himself the archive of secrets and documents that Riina kept in his villa in via Bernini in Palermo, his last hiding place. Riina had Matteo Messina Denaro as his godson, however denying him during his detention, when he was intercepted to complain about Matteo who in the meantime had preferred to support Bernardo Provenzano’s strategy to the mafia terrorist strategy, preferring the submerged one to the mafia of weapons, more useful for initiating “Negotiations”.
The Castelvetrano boss of that assault strategy was however the protagonist, before embarking on the path of “submersion”: he was sentenced to life imprisonment also for the mafia massacres of 1993 in Rome, Milan and Florence. His name in this investigation by the Florentine judiciary then appears alongside the Graviano brothers, the bosses of Brancaccio. With Giuseppe Graviano and Leoluca Bagarella, Messina Denaro on 14 September 1992 in Mazara del Vallo tried to kill the then deputy commissioner Rino Germanà who was interested as a super policeman in the local mafia dynamics and in the management of the Sicilian Bank by the family D’Alì: in 1992 Germanà was one of the “thorns” that had to be removed by order of Riina. Around the inaction of Matteo Messina Denaro over the years the judiciary has made numerous arrests and confiscations of assets, but his escape remains untouched to this day. The last yellow in this long story marked by the blood of so many murdered deaths, is the one that in the meantime, in his new guise, including personal data, Matteo Messina Denaro has managed to create another family, becoming the parent of another child. Who, however, was not denied the name of his grandfather, Francesco.
