The American singer Miley Cyrus delivered the most successful song of 2023 among Austrian music fans with “Flowers” - her first number 1 hit in this country. The other podium places in the Austrian sales hit parade Austria Top 40 went to two German acts: the duo Udo Lindenberg & Apache 207 with “Komet” in second place and the trio Miksu, Macloud and Makko with “Nachtswach” in third place. Tom Odell follows in fourth place with the melancholic love song “Another Love”. The song, which is more than ten years old, first became a peace song for Ukraine on social media and then a sign of protest against the oppression of women in Iran, thus celebrating a comeback in the charts.

By far the most successful domestic act is Raf Camora, who is in the top 100 of the 2023 Austrian singles annual charts with a total of five songs. His hit “All Night” (together with Luciano) is best placed at number 12.
The basis for the sales charts are the sales achieved in Austria via digital platforms and physical retail.
The Rolling Stones’ “Hackney Diamonds” tops 2023 album sales charts
The best-selling album is “Hackney Diamonds” by the Rolling Stones – more than 60 years after the legendary rock band was founded. Raf Camora takes second place with his album “XV” – a homage to Vienna’s 15th district of Fünfhaus – and manages to place two other albums in the top 100 with “Zukunft” and “Anthrazit”. This makes the Austrian rapper the most successful domestic artist when it comes to albums. Pop queen Taylor Swift – she recently broke Elvis Presley’s record with 68 weeks at number one in the US album charts – even has two albums in top positions: “Midnights” from 2022 lands at number 3, her current album “1989 ( Taylor’s Version)” from October 2023 at number 4.

“Flowers” most played on the radio
Miley Cyrus not only leads the 2023 sales charts with “Flowers”, but is also ahead in radio broadcasts in Austria. The second most played song is “Bad Memories” by Meduza, James Carter feat. Elley Duhe & Fastboy, followed by “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” by David Guetta, Anne-Marie, Coi Leray. For the airplay charts, the titles played by all relevant Austrian radios are evaluated.
A total of 13 local acts were able to place in the airplay top 100. The five most successful radio hits from Austria are “It Feels Like” by Toby Romeo & YouNotUs, “Insanity” by Anna-Sophie, “Echo” by Thorsteinn Einarsson, “Tu es” by Lemo and “Martina” by Josh. Furthermore, Folkshilfe feat. Paul Pizzera with “Najo eh”, AUT of ORDA with “Mi Amor” and “Fix net normal”, Julian Le Play with “Woodstock”, Pia Maria with “White Noise” and Chris Steger with “Wias sei soi” made the jump the top 100 radio hits of 2023.
