Ministry of Commerce: In the first July of this year, my country’s total service imports and exports totaled 2.809.36 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%
CCTV, Beijing, September 3 (Reporter Zhang Shengqi) On September 2, at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce, Shu Jueting, the new spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, introduced the situation of my country’s service trade in the first July of this year.
Statistics show that from January to July this year, my country’s service trade maintained a good growth momentum. The total value of imports and exports of services was 2809.36 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; of which, service exports were 1,337.31 billion yuan, an increase of 23.2%, and imports were 1,472.06 billion yuan, a decrease of 4%. The growth rate of service exports exceeded that of imports by 27.2 percentage points, driving the service trade deficit to drop by 70% to 134.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 314.02 billion yuan. Compared with the same period in 2019, the import and export of services fell by 9%, and the two-year average fell by 4.6%, of which exports increased by 21.5%, and the two-year average increased by 10.2%; imports fell by 25.9%, and the two-year average fell by 13.9%.

Service import and export increased steadily in July. According to Shu Jueting, in July, my country’s total service imports and exports amounted to 431.92 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.1% and a decrease of 1.7% from the previous month; of which exports were 208.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.1% and a month-on-month decrease of 3.6%. The export of transportation services increased by as much as 107.5. %; Imports were 223.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.6% and a month-on-month increase of 0.2%.
Shu Jueting said that from January to July, my country’s knowledge-intensive service imports and exports amounted to RMB 128.82 billion, an increase of 11.8%, accounting for 45.8% of the total service imports and exports, an increase of 1.8 percentage points. Among them, the export of knowledge-intensive services was 704.47 billion yuan, an increase of 15.4%, accounting for 52.7% of the total service exports; the areas where exports grew faster were personal culture and entertainment services, intellectual property royalties, telecommunications, computers, and information services, which increased by 28.3. %, 23.9%, 20.8%. Imports of knowledge-intensive services amounted to 582.35 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6%, accounting for 39.6% of the total service imports; the areas where imports grew faster were financial services and intellectual property royalties, which increased by 18.9% and 14.3%, respectively.
“At present, countries continue to take strict measures to restrict the cross-border movement of people, and the impact of the epidemic on the import and export of travel services is still continuing.” Shu Jueting pointed out that from January to July, my country’s import and export of travel services was 429.98 billion yuan, a decrease of 32.7%. Exports fell by 41.6%, and imports fell by 31.6%. Excluding travel services, my country’s imports and exports of other services increased by 20.2% from January to July, of which exports increased by 28% and imports increased by 12%; compared with the same period in 2019, imports and exports of other services increased by 23%, of which exports increased by 33.5%, and imports An increase of 12.4%.
