IVREA. Christmas Capellaro, ‘Talino for his family, was born in Ivrea on December 22, 1902. The Capellaro were shoemakers who lived in a shop house in the heart of the old city, in via Arduino 30, a few meters from the Jewish Ghetto where Camillo Olivetti came into the world.
His father Adolfo was in charge of cutting the leather, while his mother Maria sewed the pieces of the uppers: «his hands had a sharp smell of leather, string and glue: it was a mysterious and fascinating perfume».
