BELLUNO. The approval of the project for the new bridge over the Piave in Lambioi has been postponed. In the service conference on Tuesday, the Civil Engineers and the Basin Authority expressed their opposite opinion, due to some critical issues on the hydraulic aspects of the project. DECISION POSTPONED

The services conference that was supposed to authorize the intervention took place on Tuesday. All the bodies involved expressed a favorable opinion, with the exception of the civil engineering department and the Basin Authority, which highlighted the need to investigate some aspects of a hydraulic nature.

The new bridge over the Piave in Lambioi will be a fixed structure that will replace the bailey, which has held up during Vaia but the storm has also highlighted how dangerous the Piave is in flood. To authorize a definitive bridge, the authorities want to be sure that there will be no problems in the event that the river swells considerably, and for this civil engineering and the Basin Authority have asked for further information.

The Spanish designers, according to the offices of Palazzo Rosso, will therefore present a further integration to the project, using different calculation models that will allow a very in-depth detailed analysis.

TIMES

The times are getting longer, but the suspension of the decision-making services conference does not worry the Municipality. “We still have time to conclude the design process and announce the tender next year,” explains the mayor, Jacopo Massaro. «The lengthening of the times is of a technical nature, the design and additions requested so far have been carried out quickly. The Region is kept informed of developments ».

The project, in fact, had already been modified compared to the first version. Civil Engineers and the Basin Authority had already made some prescriptions, including that of eliminating the entire embankment on the left bank. The designers changed the project, replacing the embankment viaduct with a viaduct on two piles. Some changes had also been made on the left bank of the Piave, to ensure the expansion area of ​​the flood. The steps connecting the beaches, always on the left bank of the river, have also been redefined. With these changes, the project was brought to the conference of services on Tuesday, but received two “rejections”.

THE ITER

The new services conference will be held on 28 October. If the project is approved, it must be brought to the city council, together with the necessary urban planning variant, for the green light. Then there will be a passage in the Province, for the approval of the urban variant. Then you can proceed with the executive design. Once this has also been approved, the procedures for entrusting the work can be started.

Simplify, if the work will be financed with post Vaia resources. “We are firm in the fact that the work will be financed in this way,” says Massaro. “After all, the Region (which must include the bridge in the list of works to be financed, ed) has already invested hundreds of thousands of euros for the design ». The procedures for awarding the work are triggered only when the resources are available. About eight million euros.

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

In the meantime, the bailey bridge is preparing for extraordinary maintenance, which the City will pay for. 180 thousand euros will be needed to fix the structure and the flooring, and allow the bailey to perform its function of connection between the two banks of the Piave for at least another two (if not three) years. Work on the bailey will begin in the last week of October.
