Inter-Brozovic, the point on the renewal of the contract

by admin

The Croatian midfielder will discuss the new contract shortly. In the meantime, he challenges the same opponent against whom he made his debut in the Nerazzurri. Mission: find the game and smile after the controversy over the substitution against Shakhtar

A stop in Reggio Emilia to restart with momentum, where it all began a distant February 1, 2015. Marcelo Brozovic returns to the stadium where he made his debut with the Inter shirt a few days after landing in Milan. He does it with the soul of someone who has just crossed the finish line of 250 appearances, last Tuesday against Shakhtar, and knows he is now a pillar, also aware of approaching a crossroads in the height of his professional maturity: to continue the history of love with Inter, idyllic for at least three years now, or compete in a new reality. To dictate the timing of the choice is a contract expiring in nine months, but the will of both parties is to extend the relationship. This will in all likelihood be the decisive month, in the meantime the Croatian is called to shake off the fatigue and tension that have affected his performance in the latest releases.

SHORTNESS OF BREATH

The gesture of anger upon leaving the field after 55 minutes of the match against the Ukrainians did not go unnoticed. No impatience on the part of the Croatian, for heaven’s sake, also because since the beginning of the season he has always stamped the card, remedying a total of four substitutions motivated essentially by the need to breathe. The disappointment and anger of the midfielder seemed more like the children of an opaque performance on the basis of what he had already glimpsed with Atalanta a few days earlier, a consequence of a month in which Brozovic was called to overtime between club and national team. It is no coincidence that, after the window at the beginning of the month dedicated to world qualifiers, Inzaghi replaced him in three out of six circumstances, even though he was labeled as “irreplaceable”. Evidently Inzaghi has understood that his conductor needs to recharge his batteries and is trying to manage his energies. On the other hand, in a midfield that currently thrives on unstable hierarchies, the Croatian and Barella are two fixed points from which Inter cannot ignore and which must therefore be preserved. The fact remains that for the Reggio Emilia match Brozo will start regularly from the first minute, with the aim of recovering the best version of himself before leaving for the national team.

FUTURE

Then there is also the mental aspect, which in such a moment cannot but have its weight. With a contract expiring in nine months and the possibility of dealing freely with anyone starting in January, it is logical that the Croatian also thinks about the future and begins to pause to sit around a table with the Nerazzurri management. The times are now ripe and, after the missed meeting at the beginning of September (when the father-agent of the midfielder passed by Milan for an appointment with the trusted lawyers), October seems the right month to seal an agreement wanted by both sides. Brozovic aims to double (or almost double) the current salary of 3.5 million net and the Nerazzurri management has hinted that they are willing to go up to at least the same figures guaranteed to Calhanoglu (5 million). The parties are not far away, finding an agreement should not be a problem, but soon we will have to meet face to face and talk about concrete figures. In the meantime, the Emilian obstacle must be overcome to close the circle opened six and a half years ago with a 3-1 defeat. The goal, this time, is to overturn the final result.
