An internet tariff with a surfing speed of 250 Mbit/s is sufficient for common online applications. Such download bandwidth also allows several people in the household to stream in 4K and play online games at the same time. But what do the offers for tariffs with 250 Mbit/s currently look like? We took a close look at the corresponding Internet tariffs from Telekom as well as Vodafone and PYUR. Tariffs for DSL, cable Internet and fiber optics were taken into account.
Internet with 250 Mbit/s: Up to 20 euros difference in the regular price
When booking an internet tariff, new customers usually benefit from tariff promotions such as discounts and credits. This also applies to the 250 Mbit/s tariffs examined. Aside from promotions, there are differences in the regular monthly price of up to 20 euros per month. The Pure Speed 250 tariff is available via cable internet from PYUR at the regular price of 34.99 euros per month. In the first 12 months, new customers only pay 9.99 euros per month with this offer.
However, if you book the equally fast MagentaZuhause XL tariff from Telekom, the regular price of 54.95 euros applies from the 7th month onwards. Telekom only reduces the price to 19.95 euros for the first 6 months. However, Telekom offers an upload speed of up to 40 Mbit/s, while PYUR’s tariff is only 15 Mbit/s. Vodafone cable, like Telekom fiber optics, offers an upload of up to 50 Mbit/s. In addition to an Internet flat rate, all tariffs also include a telephone flat rate to the German landline network. Telekom even includes an all-net flat rate in all German networks. And the prices of the Telekom tariffs for DSL and fiber optics are identical.
Monthly average price helps when comparing tariffs
You should therefore pay attention to all tariff conditions and promotion components. A look at the monthly average price also helps. This takes into account all monthly and one-off costs as well as benefits such as discounts and credits. The average price makes it easier to compare different tariffs. The PYUR tariff has a low average price of just around 17 euros for the first 24 months. But Vodafone’s cable Internet and DSL tariffs are also available until April 22nd at average prices of around 21 euros or 22 euros per month.
Internet tariffs with Verivox are cheaper than with the Internet providers
Although the Telekom tariff has the highest regular price, the average monthly price in the first two years is only around 26 euros. You benefit from these low prices if you order the tariffs mentioned via Verivox. Because with each offer you can secure an additional Verivox cashback. This means that the tariff at Verivox is cheaper than directly from the provider.
With some providers, new customers save the one-off provision fee for the connection. This applies, for example, to switching to Telekom or cable internet from Vodafone. With DSL from Vodafone there is a one-off charge of around 50 euros; if you switch to PYUR it is around 20 euros.
