BELLUNO. The pandemic does not stop the desire to cycle and to have a point of reference in the battle in favor of policies that are attentive to sustainable mobility and the environment. The figure emerges from the number of members of the Italian Federation of the Environment and Bicycle of Belluno, which is preparing to meet in two assemblies, extraordinary and ordinary on Monday at 20.45, to approve the amendments to the statute made necessary by the reform of the Third sector and to make the point on the activities carried out in 2020 and those to be carried out in the new year.
“Covid has upset our activities, as it has upset the life of every person”, explains Pierluigi Trevisan, president of Fiab Belluno, “but this last year has also allowed us to open new and very interesting perspectives: starting from communication to get to the focus towards the local, and therefore the Belluno area, which has become much more present in all our actions ».
The result, for now, is as many as 140 certain members, a number that is hardly desirable after a year like the one that has passed: “I admit that we feared a very important decline”, continues Trevisan, “instead the numbers of last year were slightly higher and we keep in mind that it was not possible for us to organize the social dinner, the gazebos and other events that normally help us to gather new members ».
The group had to forcibly give up the usual trips outside the province and outside the region, which involved moving by bus, but this did not give up the Fiab management, which immediately adapted to the new reality: “It may seem strange to say, but the pandemic has made our association grow and mature », continues Trevisan,« not being able to go far, for the whole beautiful season of 2020 we explored the length and breadth of Valbelluna, also adding the Wednesday rides to those of Sunday. This has served, and will serve even more as soon as we can resume business this year, to cope with the lack of movement of so many people forced to stay at home for months, who may work in smart working and begin to take on a whole lifestyle. ‘other than healthy “.
Furthermore, the collaborations carried out by Fiab with the guides of Mazarol and the guides of Belluno, which have added interesting historical-artistic aspects to the scheduled outputs, are beautiful and fruitful: “We intend to continue this kind of joint events also in 2021”, Trevisan announces, “just as there will be new meetings of our review” Pedals and other stories “, which this year has projected us towards the online with a great success with the public, an experience we will treasure even after Covid in order to host characters even from very far away ».
Meanwhile, the near future will see Fiab engaged in its most ambitious project for the city: the Bicipolitan. On which he found an important bank in the Municipality. “We note a great interest on the part of the commissioner Simiele and a great desire to complete this and other projects”, comments the president of Fiab Belluno with satisfaction, “the two main objectives of the association for the next two years will be the realization of the Bicipolitan and of a safe cycle connection with Feltre through the ring of the Valbelluna ».
Precisely regarding the work designed to unite the two Belluno cities along the banks of the Piave, the association has been very busy in the last year, bringing home new reassurances from local administrators: “Recently Ivan Minella, mayor of Santa Giustina, let us know that the construction sites for the cycle path in its territory are about to begin “, concludes Trevisan,” we hope that this year the Great Pedaling of Valbelluna can take place in full order, perhaps thanks to an increasing number vaccinated even among bike lovers ». –
