The city of Agadir witnessed the opening of the activities of the third session of the International Argan Exhibition on Thursday, May 9, 2024, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The opening of this event, which is organized within the framework of the celebration of the International Argan Tree Day, which falls on May 10 of each year, was marked by the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohamed Seddiqi, the Governor of the Souss-Massa region, the President of the Council of the Souss-Massa region, parliamentarians, and members of the Agadir Collective Council. She is the head of the National Agency for the Protection of Argan Trees.

This exhibition, which runs until May 12, is an occasion to honor this tree, which is endemic to Morocco, given its cultural significance and its socio-economic role as a lever for local development.

The Minister of Agriculture stressed that, thanks to its rich and diverse programme, this exhibition contributes to sustainable development and the appreciation of the chain of pillars, through a renewed approach.

He added that this demonstration is an opportunity to review the efforts made to develop the field of staff, while highlighting the important role played by women’s cooperatives in this context.

The space for the traditional extraction of argan oil has also been prepared, as the ingenuity of Argan women in this field will be discovered, as well as their authentic experiences passed down through generations will be valued.

In order to contribute to the preservation of this vital field for future generations, a space has been allocated for young people with the aim of enabling them to discover the world of the argan tree and its vital field in a fun and educational way and to develop their awareness of preserving the heritage of their ancestors.

As for the most important space, it has been prepared to enable various women’s cooperatives to display their products, as it will give visitors the opportunity to discover the advantages and uses of argan oil and introduce the efforts of rural women to develop and value argan products.

The exhibition will provide an important opportunity for chain professionals to establish commercial partnerships and search for new opportunities to promote their products in a framework characterized by innovation and a spirit of cooperation.
