CONEGLIANO. After a year and a half the Conegliano castle reopens: it will have a new management and new timetables. Closed for renovation and pandemic, the works are finished. From Thursday 1 July the tower with the museum will be open again. With the new path of Porta Soccorso, built by the Alpine troops and inaugurated in recent weeks, city tourism is starting up again.

The Municipality has entrusted the museum to Unpli, the association that brings together the Pro loco of the Marca, which will also have to set up events.

“A possible management by the UNPLI provincial committee was considered worthy of further study – the Municipality observed – also in consideration of the profitable presence in themanagement of the tourist information and reception office in Palazzo Sarcinelli, with the consequent possibility of creating further collaborations and synergies in the area, with positive results in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of management ».

The contract is formally for six months, until December 31st, renewable for another six arriving in June 2022. Unpli will take care of the management of the museum and of the staff, obtaining a contribution of approximately 35 thousand euros from the Municipality.

In the past, for forty years, there had been a keeper at the castle, Graziano Guolo, who retired at the end of 2019. During the renovations, already planned in 2016, the former custodian’s accommodation was arranged, the windows were replaced, access to the top of the tower was improved, the toilets were created.

The opening hours have changed. Previously they varied according to the seasons, now they will remain the same throughout the year. The castle museum will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 14, from Thursday to Sunday from 10 to 13 and from 14 to 18. The closing day will be Tuesday, adapting it to that of the restaurant “Belvedere al castello”, which 48 years old it is run by Sergio Collot and his family. Inside the museum, in addition to the various rooms and halls, you can admire them from the picture gallery with various paintings and artistic works, to the section with archaeological finds.

On the tower remains the mystery of a theft that had been discovered following the inventory of the assets, a year ago.

In the Vazzoler room, where weddings are celebrated, a marble head had disappeared, it is not known exactly when and under what circumstances. A complaint was filed. It is no longer known what happened to that object
