Fatal accident at work this morning on the Presena glacier. According to initial reports, a 58-year-old worker lost his life by being crushed by a machine near the ski lifts. The intervention of the rescuers is in vain: the man, transported by the 118 helicopter to the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento, died following the serious traumas reported. The dynamics of the accident are being examined by the carabinieri.
The victim was a resident of Vermiglio, in Val di Sole. According to an initial reconstruction by the carabinieri, the man – who worked for the Carosello Tonale Spa company – was carrying out maintenance work on the roof of the arrival station of the Paradiso cable car. Presena at an altitude of 2,500 when, for reasons to be ascertained, it was crushed by the gear of the system.
The alarm was raised by colleagues at work but for the worker there was nothing to do and the rescuers could not help but ascertain the death. The surveys were carried out by the carabinieri of the Vermiglio station. An investigation was opened by the Prevention and Safety in Workplaces Unit (Uopsal) of Trento.
