Pride, controversy in Cremona for a “blasphemous” image of the Madonna. Thousands at the parades in Pavia and Monza (waiting for Milan)

The first three Lombard cities to take to the streets for rights and which, ideally, pass the baton to the other capitals: because Saturday 11 it’s up to Bergamohe 18 y Lecco and Vareseon 9 July a Brescia and How. And there is Milanowith its Pride Week that doubles this year: from June 16 to July 2, the day of the great Parade, two weeks of celebration and rainbow encounters.

A Cremona the Pride was a first time: here too thousands of participants and some controversy for some representations of the Madonna – someone showed a picture of her topless – and of Pope Francis during the procession which attracted the protests of those who considered the blasphemous parade. Attacks Simona, the Lega’s high city councilor: “Parade with a statue of the Virgin sadomasochistic – he wrote – If this is pride in expressing an idea, it is certainly the wrong one. It is not about being bigots. It is about demanding respect. The same is true. respect that is required by those who today marched through the streets of my Cremona and who did not have it for a sacred image “.

The comment follows those posted by several users under a post from the mayor Gianluca Galimbertiin the square with the mayor of Crema Stefania Bonaldi: “Mayor, I also have gay friends but the pride in Cremona: was there really a need? I had never been to a pride before today and I’m happy that in Cremona, as in other cities, it has been done. And has done so, with the intelligence and the ability to build opportunities for thought and synergies. This event also lights up in our city a beacon on discriminations that still exist, gives the possibility to express oneself without attacking, allows us to reaffirm that we really need the equal dignity of all citizens without distinction of sex, as our Constitution also states. It is necessary to build, yes also in Cremona, a democracy that is inclusive and welcoming of diversity. Because fear and hatred for diversity always leads to fear and to the hatred of all diversities. Certainly, some citizens in a civilized way I know that they do not share some ideas that may emerge from this demonstration. tto complex issues, I always feel the need to investigate. Precisely for this reason the comparison is important and indeed indispensable, so that the fear of different positions does not prevail, which then always leads to closures and clashes. Cremona pride, this Cremona pride, is an opportunity to do it. So the answer is yes. There was a real need! “.

There were almost 6 thousand participants in the eighth edition of Pavia Pride, a presence greater than that of the previous demonstrations, held before the two-year blockade due to the pandemic. A long colorful procession crossed the streets of the center, starting from Corso Garibaldi, in front of the Community Center that supports LGBTI + people, and arriving in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, where the participants listened to some interventions. Everything took place regularly, under the discreet control of the police. The evening ended, still in the center, with the musical Pride Party.

In Monza the party was that of Brianza Pride, at least 4 thousand people responded to the call from Brianza Oltre l’Arcobaleno (BOA) and from Rete Brianza Pride, with the patronage of the Municipality and the participation of associations, local municipalities, trade unions. Also in the square were two candidates for mayor of the nearby administrative elections, Paolo Pilotto and Paolo Piffere Marco Cappato.
