Like all towns and villages in the Kingdom; the City of Ifrane celebrates the Amazigh New Year “Yd’Ennayer 2974” in grand style and organizes festive days on January 13-14 and 15, 2024.
Initiated by the Territorial Collectivity of Ifrane in partnership with the Ifrane Provincial Tourism Council and the Ifrane Forum Association for Culture and Development, these festive days officially inaugurated Friday January 13, 2024 at the Conference Hall of Ifrane and on Place du Lion in the city center; were animated by folkloric troupes of the art of Ahidouss and “Inachaden” and by readings of Amazigh poetry in addition to a tasting of local Amazigh dishes of the occasion (Couscous with seven vegetables and Couscous sweet with cinnamon and honey) and exhibitions of local products, traditional Amazigh clothing and the art of Henna, including an Amazigh museum; under Amazigh tents which decorated the post office square in the city center,
In his statement to our correspondent, Omar Jaid president of the Provincial Tourism Council (CPT) of Ifrane stressed that the latter decided to celebrate the Amazigh New Year in Ifrane considered to be a 100% Amazigh city located in the heart of an Amazigh zone by creating a three-day event to celebrate “Yd’Ennayer 2974” through activities aimed at highlighting the values of Amazigh culture.
In this context, he added, “we have scheduled folkloric evenings with poetic readings, exhibitions of local products and Amazigh crafts, a tasting of different types of couscous prepared on occasion and an exhibition of clothes and traditional Amazigh tools »
For her part, Laila Boutaline, president of the “Najah” Forestry Cooperative in Ifrane, stressed that this Yd’Ennayer event is very symbolic for the Amazigh woman who celebrates it through more than one activity including the preparation of traditional dishes such as the Couscous with seven vegetables including a single fruit (a Date) well sought after by each member of the family to be proclaimed the luckiest of all and the dressing of the little girls in a purely traditional Amazigh way with henna ceremonies in the joy and joy of the whole family.
It should finally be noted that the celebration of the Amazigh New Year by the inhabitants of Ifrane is an affirmation of their pride in the royal decision to make the opening of the Amazigh New Year a public holiday, within the framework of the great royal interest granted to Amazigh culture and its constant concern to constitutionalize it and give it its rightful place within the identity components of Moroccan society.
This celebration also highlights Amazigh cultural treasures and underlines the imperative need to be proud of our local cultural depth, and the need to follow it, document it and promote it, in order to benefit from it in all planning. of development. The sustainable city that we want as a development and strategic horizon for the city of Ifrane will not be achieved without a solid and well-founded cultural base.
