“The expression Foreigners Everywhere – he explained – has more than one meaning. First of all, it means that wherever you go and wherever you are you will always meet foreigners: they are/we are everywhere. Secondly, that regardless of your location , deep down you are always truly foreign.” Pedrosa presented the guidelines of the exhibition – 331 artists present divided into two nuclei “Contemporary” and “Historical” with sub-sections – during a press conference opened by the greeting of the president Roberto Cicutto to his successor, Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, present in room, under the banner of “a change of baton”, of “absolute collaboration”. If the origins of the title are to be found in a series of works by the Claire Fontaine collective, born in Paris and based in Palermo, the curator recalled that the expression in turn was taken from a Turin collective that “in the early 2000s fought against racism and xenophobia in Italy”. From here it seemed a short step to frame an exhibition that “will be the celebration of the foreigner, of the distant, of the outsider, of the queer and of the indigenous”.
