Yemenat – Sanaa
On Saturday morning, April 27, 2024, a security force arrested activist Khaled Al-Arassi.
Al-Arassi’s house in Sana’a was surrounded by soldiers and gunmen who came on board security teams and buses.
Soldiers and gunmen stormed Al-Arassi’s house, accompanied by female police, and he was taken to a bus.
Activists say that Al-Arassi was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior, while others say that he was transferred to the Security and Intelligence Service.
Al-Arassi’s arrest came after he published documents revealing the entry of prohibited pesticides into the country, most notably methyl bromide, which is banned internationally.
The issue of banned pesticides that are prohibited from entering the country has turned into an issue of public opinion, and has sparked widespread controversy among activists, government agencies, and merchants accused of introducing these pesticides.
