Recovered on Gran Sasso thanks to the SOS launched by GeoResQ – News

A mountaineer was recovered on the Gran Sasso thanks to an SOS launched by the GeoResQ app, a geolocation and emergency call forwarding service dedicated to all mountain goers and lovers of outdoor sports. The message requesting help was sent by one of the four climbers involved in a shower of stones at the foot of the Moriggia-Acitelli canal, on the Corno Grande. One of them was hit by a stone which caused trauma to his arm.

The rescue request was received by the GeoResQ operations center in Sassari. The switchboard operator immediately forwarded the coordinates to the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue which, in agreement with the Nue (Single emergency number), also requested the intervention of the air ambulance stationed in L’Aquila, which heliported the Cnsas and mountain rescue teams of the Guardia di Finanza near the group.

Due to the strong wind which made the recovery operations with the helicopter extremely difficult, once the injured patient had been stabilised, the technicians returned towards the valley, securing the climbers and the injured person with ropes and accompanying them back to Fonte Cerreto, where the The injured person was taken care of by the 118 ambulance.

The GeoResQ app can be downloaded for free via mobile phone.
