The shock of the robbers in the house was so great that he never recovered. Facing three hooded people in the bedroom at night could have been fatal to a 70-year-old woman, Mirella Badella. The woman from Montegrosso d’Asti the morning after the theft was taken to hospital where she died a few days later.
The theft took place in early September. The victim was in the bedroom and was sleeping, with her husband too, 90 years old. In the middle of the night three hooded men entered the house and reached the room where the two slept, awakening them abruptly and forcing them to hand over valuables and savings.
The robbers wouldn’t have taken much but for the elderly couple they were moments of terror. The woman felt ill and her condition rapidly worsened, so much so that a few hours later the 118 ambulance took her to the Massaia hospital where, a few days later, her heart stopped beating. On Friday the funeral was celebrated in the church of Our Lady of Lourdes and many were present for the last farewell.
“We will do everything possible to lend a hand to the police and therefore ensure these bandits to justice, they must not have won”, the words of the mayor of Montegrosso, Marco Curto. He was also present at the funeral. Mirella with her husband Giovanni, inspector of the Red Cross for years have always dedicated a lot of time to the community and to volunteering: “He was born and raised in Montegrosso, where he worked all his life, an” indigenous “as I like to say and with him Mrs. Mirella was also part of the family for us.
