Paraguay and Brazil reached a historic agreement on the energy tariff of Itaipu Binacional. This was stated by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, highlighting that it represents a “triumph for Brazil and Paraguay,” translating into important resources that will be allocated to guarantee “the well-being that all Paraguayans deserve.”
The announcement was made official this Thursday by the president through his social networks, in a message addressed to all the Paraguayan people.
The agreement between the two countries that operate the binational hydroelectric plant was set at a rate of US$ 19.28 that will be in effect until 2026. With this, Paraguay will obtain an annual income of 1,250 million dollars that will be allocated to areas essential for its development. , stated Peña.
