“Serious anti-seismic deficiencies”: the Corbanese school does not reopen after the holidays

Schoolchildren, from 10 January, will be “diverted” to the primary in Tarzo. The mayor: “An inevitable choice after the latest tests on the property”

TARZO. After the Christmas holidays and the end of the year, the elementary school children of Corbanese will not return to school in their country, but will be transferred to Tarzo. There are two explanations from the mayor Vincenzo Sacchet: the merging of the two complexes allows to reach the number of students that justifies the opening of an office, the Corbanese building is not in compliance with anti-seismic standards.

It is not because the municipality of Tarzo was recently included by the Region in the first category of earthquake-risk territories, and therefore the buildings, above all public ones, must have certain safety parameters. The inconveniences are not lacking, as highlighted by some families and the teachers themselves. Mayor Sacchet explains that, in truth, the purpose of the municipal administration was to start with the adaptation work of the school building next summer, in order to allow the year to continue and end.

The fact is, however, that the technical verification of the school’s seismic vulnerability – a procedure that had expired by 31 December 2021 – revealed “serious shortcomings on the property”, so it did not pass the tests it was subjected to. . “In short – adds the mayor – we were forced to anticipate the times and the staff of the Municipality took advantage of the Christmas holidays to proceed with the move”. But there is also the other problem, that of demographic decline.

In 10 years, births have dropped from 38 to 20 per year; too few, the children, to justify two schools. In Corbanese, however, one wonders why the little ones will be transferred to Tarzo. “Because – explains Sacchet – the Tarzo school has already been brought to seismic law and has also had energy efficiency works”. Not only that, in Corbanese there was no gym or the computer room. The problem was dealt with by the city council on December 30th. The parents – assures the mayor – have understood the situation. Corbanese, in any case, if he loses the elementary school, he will gain a new maternal. The Municipality will renovate – an investment of one million – the elementary school and then assign it to welcome the little ones. –
