Several subjects set vehicles on fire in Esmeraldas, as confirmed by the National Police around 8:00 p.m. this Monday, January 8.
The police institution added that so far it is known that two vehicles were subject to vandalism.
According to Policeone of the burned cars was reported at a gas station in Emeraldswhere the scourge of the vehicle could be mitigated.
Likewise, the fire of another car was also reported in the town of Tonsupa. According to the Police, no people were injured in these events.
Police officers are already deployed in the areas where emergencies were reported to ensure the safety of citizens.
However, after the dissemination of several videos in which vehicles are seen being set on fire, many citizens panicked.
Although the Police confirmed that there were two cars on fire, there are users on social networks who have shared more videos and state that the figure is higher. In certain clips, several individuals are shown setting the vehicles on fire.
The Police are already looking for those responsible for these events that occurred after the President Daniel Noboa declared a state of emergency at the national level due to internal commotion. With this measure, the National Police and Armed Forces will be mobilized at the national level.
