PALERMO – The feared return to the Musumeci junta of the resigned Health Councilor Ruggero Razza, news anticipated by our newspaper in early May, it is stirring the waters of regional politics and the Sicilian Regional Assembly. And a barrage is rising against his return to the top of the island’s health care.
Already Musumeci’s allies did not seem enthusiastic, now the opposition is saying no.
“Breed bis? No thanks. We do not understand what has changed since the day of his dutiful resignation. And in any case, the work of Musumeci’s dolphin was deficient before the investigation of the judiciary invested the Department of Health, so much so as to induce the opposition to propose a motion of censure against him “said the deputies of the M5S to the Ars, Francesco Cappello, Salvatore Siragusa, Antonio De Luca and Giorgio Pasqua, members of the Health commission of the Norman palace.
“If we were among the last regions to abandon orange, with all the negative consequences of the case – say the 5-star parliamentarians – it is also attributable to choices that have their roots in the past months, when Razza was in the control room. If we have been lagging behind in terms of vaccines, this was certainly not attributable to choices made in recent days. And we could go on. The former health councilor has already shown that he does not know how to govern Sicilian health care, also because, although aware of the anomalies regarding the loading of tampons carried out and of the Covid victims, he did not work either to report or to prevent the deplorable practice. What can be the credibility of a person who has already carried out similar conduct? How can its reinstatement be justified? ».
«The sad reality – they add – is that the resignation of Razza has been at stake for the stability of the regional government and now that the next electoral structure is being discussed, Musumeci does not want to deprive himself of his dolphin. Too bad that all this has nothing to do with the health of the Sicilians ».
Razza is not the “welcome” even for the regional deputy Claudio Fava (Cento Passi per la Sicilia) who during the press conference held together with his colleague Baldo Gucciardi (Pd) in front of the “Paolo Borsellino” hospital, Covid Hospital for the province Trapani, attacked the work of the former councilor. «This hospital – explained Fava – tells how the health system and the regional government arrived totally and guilty unprepared for the second wave of the pandemic. Last year, after the first wave, there were all the good reasons and the time to be able to gear up. The second wave of Covid, which sadly began last autumn, saw the regional administration devote itself to its favorite sport: cutting tapes of fake inaugurations ».
“For this reason, beyond the judicial events, with numbers drawn as in the lotto and deaths smeared, I think that the return of Razza as councilor for health is not welcome,” he observed.
