It’s the proud day for Sesto Pusteria, the town of Sinner, which celebrates the first Slam of its Jannik. For the final of the tennis champion, the most illustrious citizen of this small village in Alto Adige, in Val Pusteria, with just 1900 inhabitants, many gathered in the bar of the sports center where Sinner started playing tennis. “Janik’s victory was stratospheric. He prevailed in an epic match, with incredible suspense”, Thomas Summerer, the town’s mayor, told ANSA euphorically. A joy that counterbalances the pain of the serious road accident in which a woman and her two children lost their lives in recent days.
“We are really proud, even in these days of great mourning”, he adds. In fact, the funerals of the victims of the head-on collision which occurred on 22 January in East Tyrol, Austria, will take place tomorrow in Sesto.
