On the morning of this Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the solemn session took place for the 489 years of the Foundation of Portoviejo.

The event took place in the Bellavista room, located on the road to Manta.

Authorities such as Manabi assembly members Gabriela Molina and Fernando Cedeño arrived at the event.

Education Minister Daniel Calderón was also present.

The prefect Leonardo Orlando also attended the solemn session.

The mayors of Rocafuerte, Norberto Vélez, also attended the event; from Chone, Leonardo Rodríguez and from Manta, Marciana Valdiviezo.

The session was held with a futuristic theme, alluding to the Smart City.

The gallery of recipients was shown on the screens, which on this occasion were 46.

The President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, was also among those present.

Noboa received the San Gregorio de Portoviejo decoration in the Grand Collar for Distinguished Citizen category.

It has been 10 years for a president to attend a solemn session for the Foundation, the mayor, Javier Pincay, reported in recent days.

There were no construction announcements

The president, Daniel Noboa, He gave an emotional speech but without any announcement of worksresources and the long-awaited sovereign guarantee for the Credit before the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).

This $50 million credit will be for the construction of sanitary and storm sewage, drinking water and streets for the northern citadels.
