The number of Pereira residents located in the Carrilera sector in the different sectors of Galicia are the majority, but they must endure long walks due to two inconveniences.
For more than a year, Route 37 has not passed the sector known as 25 on Calle 171 with Carrera 15 of Esperanza Galicia in Cerritos. The cause? This response is given by the mayor of the township, Beatriz Marín: “Something horrible, impressive happened, because the lakes that they made on the Los Písamos farm, a few years ago, overflowed in the middle of the winter season, that looked like a river, there was so much water that came out from there that swept away a house and split another in two.”
Given the lack of attention from the risk prevention authorities and the Mayor’s Office itself, the drivers stopped passing through that place that clearly represents a risk for them and the passengers they are carrying at a certain time. With this decision they left about 2,400 people walking at least eight blocks, most of the time under the harsh sun.
Councilor Beatriz Marín points out the place where the house that was washed away was and that there has been no intervention so that it does not pose a risk to transportation.
“Before, the bus used to enter Colonias, which is 178, that is why we need a retaining wall in that place, the former councilors made petition rights and different requests for that problem and for the bus to reach us since there are so many people. in the community, but nothing at all,” says Doña Beatriz. When she is asked if there is no way for a bus to turn around in Colonias, she answers yes, but rather people do not let them pass because the ground has been slipping.
For a long time there were two routes, 37A and 37B, the second went down to Hacienda Castilla, entered Estación Villegas to go up through Colonias and Esperanza Galicia, but one day it stopped appearing and no one said anything.
The other problem
Leaving Esperanza Galicia behind in the direction of Pereira, Galicia is left low, in this place the drivers of the orange buses do not have it easy either, since added to the narrowness of Carrera 15, the irresponsibility of some inhabitants who are owners of some type of vehicle and they park where it suits them, then public transportation does not find space to circulate.
The locals of Galicia use the bays and any space to store cars and motorcycles, so since it is so narrow, when the bus arrives it cannot pass and there is a long delay for the owners to arrive to move said vehicles.
This point is known as 25, you have to walk until here from Colonias. Furthermore, it is an incredible tour, because the destination is Playa Rica in Dosquebradas.
The most recent incident was known two weeks ago, as Mrs. María Cristina Uribe relates: “The man in the bus whistled, but no one answered and he whistled again and this time the owner of the car arrived enraged and threw stones at the bus. until he managed to break the windshield. It’s one thing to come to Esperanza Galicia, but in lower Galicia it’s really tight.”
The underlying problem shown by these events is that the community is abandoned to its fate in the three points, since in the latter there is no common parking lot where people leave their means of transportation safely. “Now when the garbage truck passes by it is horrible, because as it gets stuck for the same reason, you can’t imagine the smells and if the bus comes behind, needless to say,” says the mayor.
A very important detail
Older adults are counted in large numbers and when the Life Center has operated, the bus also entered for them, but in these situations this could not happen again and walks at that age become much more complicated.
