From August 11 to the morning of August 12, many places in Hubei suffered heavy rains, with local rainfall exceeding 400 millimeters. Among them, the Liulin Town of Suizhou was flooded, and the depth of the accumulated water was more than 3.5 meters.
According to a news report from the upper reaches of the mainland, Ji Baoquan recalled that at 8pm on August 11, it started to rain in Liulin Town. The flood rose at around 4am on the 12th and crossed Liulin Town from west to east at 5am. The water on the street has risen to more than two meters.
At 5:13 a.m. on the 12th, Ji Baoquan received a farewell message from his wife, Gong Shihui, who was on a night shift in a supermarket in the center of the town: “I’m good (if) dead. You can look for it in the slippers bag under the bed, and you still have a little deposit. .”
After seeing his wife’s text message, he hurriedly called back. The phone was okay, but no one answered.
The report said that Ji Baoquan wanted to save his wife. He went down from the third floor to the first floor, but found that he could not go out. His home is on a hillside, two meters higher than the central street. At 5:30 in the morning, the first floor of Ji Baoquan’s home was half flooded, and the ground-floor houses on the street had already been completely flooded.
The supermarket where Gong Shihui works is only on the first floor and cannot be moved to a higher place. It wasn’t until 8 o’clock in the morning on the 12th that the flood gradually subsided. After Ji Baoquan walked more than 500 meters, he finally came to the new life supermarket where his wife worked.
The report mentioned that at 8:20, Ji Baoquan saw his wife lying on the floor of the supermarket, motionless, face down, and the lower left corner of her jacket hung on the fallen shelf. Ji Baoquan’s heart is ashamed. He found a piece of cloth and covered his wife.
A female colleague of Gong Shihui also died. Her body was found in a ditch more than 500 meters away from the supermarket. The wife and 10-year-old grandson of Ji Baoquan’s second uncle, Ji Dajin, were also killed.
Ji Dajin lived in his hometown at the time of the incident, and his wife and grandson lived on the first floor of Yixin Community in the town center. At 9 o’clock in the morning, he opened the door and saw that his wife and grandson were lying in the bedroom. The water in the bedroom had receded, leaving a 20-centimeter-high silt.
According to reports, local people have not received an evacuation notice.
