Original Title: Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council: “Taiwan Independence” provocations continue for a day, and tensions in the Taiwan Strait cannot be eased in a day

[环球网报道]The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference on November 10. Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, answered reporters’ questions.

Reporter: Taiwan’s defense department recently announced that since the beginning of this year, PLA military aircraft have entered the southwest airspace of Taiwan for more than 700 sorties. The military confrontation between the two sides of the strait is difficult to ease, and Taiwan will face greater military pressure in the future. Any comment on this?

Zhu Fenglian: We are willing to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and best efforts, but we will never leave any room for various forms of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities. The root cause of the current tension in the Taiwan Strait is that the DPP authorities and “Taiwan independence” forces nakedly sell the “two-state theory” and link up with external forces to continuously seek “independence” provocations.

The PLA’s relevant exercises are to resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, to effectively target “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and interference by external forces, and to fundamentally safeguard the overall interests of the Chinese nation and the vital interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait. The provocation of “Taiwan independence” continues, and the tension in the Taiwan Strait cannot be eased.
