Take off to the Jira Cloud – learning paths in the Seibert Academy

It is an ancient human dream: flying. Since ancient times, intrepid pioneers have repeatedly developed concepts for flying machines, which were particularly successful in the 19th century (Otto Lilienthal’s gliding flights were particularly well known). Today, millions of people fly to other countries every year in aircraft of different sizes and performance, and those who like it more “original” learn paragliding or gliding. Or you can content yourself with singing classics like “Über den Wolken” or “Learning to fly”.

Do you also appreciate the feeling of freedom high above the clouds? Today we would like to help you feel free and secure in the Atlassian Cloud: In this article we will introduce you to our learning path “Your move to the Jira Cloud”. This makes switching from your current system to Jira Cloud about as difficult as switching from an Airbus 310 to an Airbus 320 (or, in other words: comparatively harmless, in any case more harmless than the breakneck attempts by Ikarus and Co.) !

Get ready for your start at the Seibert Academy!

Our e-learning platform, the Seibert Academy, offers you the optimal guidance, especially after moving to a cloud system. Our experts will explain the similarities and differences to the on-premises systems, show you new useful functions and make the change noticeably easier for you.

The Seibert Academy therefore has various so-called “learning paths”, each of which contains several courses. Whether it’s about Atlassian tools or agile methods, whether you’ve never worked with Atlassian systems before or are already a professional. You are an admin: With our courses you can then get started at a high level! And the best thing about it: You decide the pace when and where you learn. In the past few weeks we have already introduced you to some paths:

So far it’s been about Confluence – today we’re venturing into new territory with you: Take off with us to the Jira Cloud! Jira is a valuable tool, especially for agile teams: This makes it easy to break down complex projects into smaller tasks, identify dependencies at an early stage, and ensure that everyone involved in a project is informed about all progress at all times. How this all works in the cloud version and whether it has any additional advantages to offer – our colleague Jan Spriestersbach explains this and much more to you in the learning path “Your move to the Jira Cloud”. Jan has already carried out numerous user training courses and therefore knows exactly where the problem often arises.

Off to the clouds – the learning path “Your move to the Jira Cloud”

Similar to the Confluence learning paths, we have divided this one into four stages that are mandatory, but there is also optional content. You decide how deep you want to go. Here you can see what awaits you:

This course is especially useful if you already know Jira in the on-prem instance as a user “Differences between Jira Cloud & Data Center” particularly useful for you. In it, Jan works out for you what is different in the cloud version, what you know from the data center version and where smart add-ons exist. Navigation in Jira Cloud is on the agenda, as are personalization options (e.g. favorite options for dashboards, projects or agile boards). How you can create, view and edit issues (and what helpful new features you will encounter) is also part of the course, as are the project views and the Agile boards.

Kanban-Boards in Jira Software (Cloud) is the 2nd course that belongs to the learning path. Maybe you enjoy using Kanban boards as much as we do because they are practical and incredibly flexible. In this explanatory video, Jan shows how you can set up Kanban boards in Jira Software – step by step. Maybe you would take advantage of the opportunity and simply set up your own Kanban board at the same time that you can work with in the future?

The 3rd part, “The search function in Jira Cloud”, shows you in 60 minutes how you can not only search for tickets in Jira Cloud, but also find them! Jan looks at the quick search with you before taking a closer look at the standard search and the function of the filters in this context. And finally, the Jira Query Language (JQL) is on the agenda, which Jan explains in such an understandable way that anyone who has previously had problems with it can use this tool.

Finally, Dimitris Tzouvaras and Jana Labenz, two of our Agile Coaches, will give you some valuable tips for you Self-organization with Jira Cloud give. Here you can learn in just 30 minutes how to organize your own tasks using a Kanban board – which is not only agile, but also extremely helpful in your everyday work.

If you are new to Jira, we recommend the basic course “First steps in Jira Cloud”. Here you start at the very beginning with Jan and quickly become familiar with using Jira, so that the four mandatory courses are then easy to handle.
