All plants, even the Italian ones, will switch to electrical plants. Italy is the heart of this transformation ».

The requests to politics

Stellantis asks the government for certain rules and investments: «We need stability of the rules, visibility of what will happen at the regulatory level, investments in charging infrastructures and fewer barriers and obstacles to the use of the car. If we can do these things we will reduce costs, improve efficiency and make these cars easy to use. I am confident but in the next five years we must bring these three elements together so that the industry can work in a concreated and resilient way ».

The future of Mirafiori

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares also spoke about the Mirafiori plant in Turin: «There are concrete ideas to make the future of the company profitable, in a couple of months they will materialize – he adds -. We are not looking for headlines, but for a project to be built. I am optimistic, but we must work for the ideas to materialize. We move step by step to create the conditions for the success of the company by working with local governments. We are looking for projects that can be framed and this will happen in the coming months with production announcements and new businesses that could refer to the circular economy “.

War in Ukraine

«We have already condemned all the violence and attacks, interrupted imports and exports, and shortly the Kaluga plant in Russia will stop operations because it has no components. I hope that peace will return so that our company supports peace, ”said Tavares on the situation in Russia after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. «In Ukraine we have protected all our 71 employees, we have contacts with everyone. When someone does not answer, I am immediately informed. They are all safe, some in Poland, we are welcoming them in other structures thanks to the work of a task force. We pay salaries with extra bonuses to help them and we have allocated one million euros for an NGO that takes care of those in danger. We need peace to return ».
