CODROIPO. He did not make it: struck by a powerful electric charge, he went out in the hospital in Udine. And he is yet another victim of work.

Luca Toniolo was just 41 years old and lived with his family in Cittadella. He earned a living for himself and for the future of his loved ones with his professionalism, recognized and appreciated.

He had been a worker for some time for a company in Carmignano, Ecoprogetti srl, a reality started and grown in the 90s, currently specialized in production and quality control machines for photovoltaic modules.

The forty year old was far from home, on Wednesday morning he was busy in Codroipo, in the province of Udine. In a dynamic where details must be defined, the victim was struck by a powerful electric charge.

The maintenance technician had been commissioned to carry out an intervention to replace some panels of the photovoltaic park carried out in the Friulian town near the former Coseat Brunner powder keg, along the SS 13 Pontebbana.

Everything happened in a few, tragic, moments. Given the drama of the incident, the Sores di Palmanova plant sent an ambulance and helicopter rescue to the scene.

Not a second was lost: the 41-year-old was promptly stabilized by the doctors, who for a long time carried out the desperate and incessant resuscitation maneuvers; immediately afterwards he was rushed to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in the Friulian capital.

Doctors did everything they could to save his life, but they couldn’t. The trauma suffered while Luca Toniolo was doing his daily work was too serious. In these hours we are trying to investigate the exact dynamics of the accident: what went wrong? Why did the worker come into contact with the electric current?

The investigations are currently underway by the carabinieri of the Udine company and by the inspectors of the health company, supported by the firefighters who had to intervene to secure the area.

The severity of the accident, with the intervention of the helicopter rescue, has raised a strong alarm in the area. As soon as he learned of the situation, the mayor of Codroipo, Fabio Marchetti, expressed his wish to be made aware of the health conditions of the citizen worker.

Dismay was expressed by the mayor of the walled city, Luca Pierobon: “I express the greatest closeness to the family, who must know that the municipal administration is there, to give support”.

The plague of deaths at work also hurts the community of Cittadella: “Unfortunately these accidents should not happen, it is incomprehensible”, Pierobon emphasizes, “that there are still deaths at work, we are in Italy and there are all the means to prevent these tragedies. It is a huge tragedy ».
