The launching ceremony of the 8th National Volkswagen Ice and Snow Season was held on the 19th in Wuhan, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and Shennongjia Forest District.
The theme of this ice and snow season is “Realize Winter Olympics Dreams and Share the Future”. From now until April 2022, the national public ice and snow season will run through the entire 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics. “China Ice and Snow Caravans”, “National Snow and Ice Classes”, and “Slide to 2022” will be carried out across the country. A series of mass ice and snow activities such as carnival and ice and snow gala.
The kick-off ceremony is set up next to the main venue in Wuhan with an area of 1,800 square meters of China Ice and Snow Sports Exhibition, which introduces the history of China’s ice and snow sports development in the form of objects, pictures, and text. Among them, the “Ice and Snow Caravan” exhibition area is also equipped with speed skating training boards, cross-country skiing simulators, liquid curling experience projects and other devices for tourists to experience. At the same time, Wuhan National Fitness Center and Wuhan International Tennis Center held the Ice and Snow Carnival and Ice and Snow Art Festival.
The venues of Enshi Prefecture and Shennongjia Forest District started the national public ice and snow season synchronously through video connection. The Chinese Youth Ski Grand Prix, snowball fights, snow dragon boats, snow tug of war, snow ring relay, snow biathlon, snow photography, ice and snow garden fairs and other activities organized by the two venues will bring unique ice and snow experiences to local people and tourists.
Since 2014, the national public ice and snow season has started seven times. This launching ceremony was held for the first time in the central region, and it was also the country’s largest ice and snow event before the Beijing Winter Olympics. During the seventh national public ice and snow season held last year, more than 1,200 mass ice and snow events were held nationwide, with more than 100 million participants.
