The awakening of Etna, Strombolian activity from the South East crater

by admin

A weak recovery of Strombolian activity from the south-east crater of Etna was recorded in the evening by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etneo Observatory of Catania. Also observed single episodes of impulsive explosions with moderate emission of ash, which quickly dispersed into the atmosphere. From the seismic point of view, the average amplitude of the volcanic tremor shows an increasing trend, currently settling on medium-low values. The location of the source of the tremor is located in the vicinity of the Southeast Crater area at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level. As far as the infrasonic activity is concerned, this remains at medium-low levels, with events located in the area of the Southeast Crater. The deformation data does not show significant changes.
