It’s called “Bernaretto”, it was born a lot for fun during the lockdown. Then the social connection with Aurora Ramazzotti launched the business
THE CHARACTER
The “bernaretto” is a candidate to become the VIP hat. All thanks to the young and enterprising Azzurra Bernardi who, supported by her sister Allegra and her mother Tiziana, decided to make a change in her life starting from a passion, born a little by chance and continued happily accomplices cold and lockdown.
From wool and crochet to reaching exceptional testimonials such as Michelle Hunziker, Aurora Ramazzotti, Fedez and Filippa Lagerback the step was really short. “Healthy madness and a lot of luck”, reveals Azzurra, a twenty-three year old from Cortina living in Borca.
«Last January, in full lockdown, I decided a little by chance to start making crochet hats. I did everything self-taught », she says,« I went to the Cooperative and bought the first balls of wool, then I sat in front of the computer to watch tutorials in bursts. This is how the first hats were born which, together with my sister and my mother, I decided to call “bernaretti”, in fact the hats of the Bernardi sisters also known in these parts as “the bernies” ».
Once these hats were made, what happened?
«It happened that, with a little luck and a spirit of enterprise, I started looking for the right way to promote them. And I found it diving on social media, especially on instagram, where I soon found unexpected support from Aurora Ramazzotti. Thanks to one of his tags, the “bernaretti” have begun to make themselves known ».
With the advent of summer, a first boom in requests arrived, thanks to the approach of other VIPs.
“Exactly so. I took advantage of the fact that Cortina is notoriously a VIP destination during the holidays. With a bit of nerve, but always with a smile on my face, I approached a few. I gave them a “bernaretto” and also gave them a card with the social profiles to tag. It was exceptional. Michelle Hunziker immediately lent herself to photos and selfies; also Filippa Lagerback, whom I had the pleasure of meeting just a few days ago. In the meantime, thanks to the intermediation of a friend of Chiara Ferragni (Veronica Ferraro, ed) I found myself tagged in a photo by Fedez. Social media, like it or not, are the best showcase to promote something. This is how the requests for “bernaretti” increase day by day ».
Said of hats and celebrities, what is behind this project?
«I traveled around Italy a lot for study reasons», says Azzurra, «but at a certain point I realized that Cortina was my center of the world. I came back to live here with the idea of staying but I needed new incentives to do so. If necessary, I also did the tourist seasons in accommodation facilities, but I needed to give life to something of my own. I found that road in these funny, colorful and differently shaped hats. Each one is made to measure by meticulously following the directions of those who request them. We also make rubber bands and hairpins while for the future we plan to expand the range of products ».
