For the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, the streets of Bard will host a scenographic setting with characters and places from Hell, Purgatory and Paradise
BARD. On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, the Maison Bleue di Bard association, with the support of the Valle d’Aosta Regional Council and the Municipality of Bard, pays tribute to the “Supreme Poet” by organizing an exhibition that will come to life in the town of lower valley.
Starting from May 1st, the characters of the Divine Comedy will appear inside the village represented by fifteen life-size silhouettes by five internationally renowned illustrators and cartoonists: Milton Glaser, Moebius, Lorenzo Mattotti, Sandro Dossi and Silver in collaboration with the cartoonist Giorgio Sommacal.
The ancient streets of Bard will be transformed throughout the summer into an artistic path that will give life to Dante’s places of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.
“The scenographic setting – says the president of Maison Bleue, Paola Persello, who together with Bruno Testa, cartoonist and illustrator, conceived the initiative – will therefore allow you to immerse yourself in the Divine Comedy, experiencing a visual experience of a high artistic level, which can also be appreciated in the evening, when some memorable Dante’s triplets will be projected on the walls of the ancient village “.
The event also accompanies the exhibition just inaugurated at the Forte di Bard entitled “Homage to Dante: 1321-2021”, built around a precious incunabulum of the Divine Comedy, printed in 1487 and coming from an ancient castle of Lunigiana, a volume illustrated by exceptional woodcuts.
