PALERMO – The etoile Eleonora Abbagnato, the revelation duo in Sanremo Colapesce and Dimartino, the actress Nicole Grimaudo and the athlete Carlotta Ferlito are the five testimonials of the campaign for the promotion of tourism in Sicily. The Sicilian Region chose them as part of the “SeeSicily” project, which includes, among the many initiatives, the launch of commercials on national and international media to attract tourists to the island.

The taesers will be launched from 6 June. “There is a need to see art and beauty, I am happy with this initiative that allows me to return to my beautiful land and I hope soon also in my theater in Palermo”, said Eleonora Abbagnato, who made a brief appearance in the press conference , in Palermo, for the presentation of the SeeSicily project, in the presence of Governor Nello Musumeci.

The SeeSicily project provides a discount between 100 and 150 euros on the price of the air ticket for those arriving in Sicily from October this year to March 2022, immediately instead a free night for those who book at least three in hotel, b & b or farmhouse and many services at no cost, such as excursions, diving and visits to cultural sites: this is the package offered by the Sicilian Region to those who choose to spend a holiday on the island.

To finance the recovery of the sector in full crisis due to the pandemic, the Region has invested 75 million euros in EU funds, opening a call for tenders to which travel agencies, tour operators and hoteliers have joined.

«We are ready to go – Messina said – We are the only ones in Europe to have carried out a project so articulated and built in every detail, also through a comparison with Brussels, that in the end those who complimented us. The project aims to promote Sicily and allows us to help companies that have suffered and are suffering from the crisis. We bought a series of services from the tourism sector and we have already paid: through the platform www.visitsicily.info tourists will be able to book and benefit from the package, it is also aimed at Sicilians ».

The Region has purchased 200,000 beds, 70,000 excursions from travel agencies and tour operators, 10,000 services from guides. “The promotion is clear – the commissioner observed – to be able to use free nights and services must stay in Sicily at least three nights, we focus on the multiplier effect”.

Almost 15 million have been invested in air flights, which will depart from October to March 2022.
