The festival focuses on urban development in Linz for four days

“There is something for everyone,” says city planning director Hans-Martin Neumann, referring to the Linz program of the “Co-Create Linz” festival, which takes place from April 18th to 21st. As a member of the “New European Bauhaus” initiative, Linz joins other cities such as Athens and Turin; the main event takes place in Brussels.

The Linz program is made possible through the commitment of the municipality, the Tabakfabrik, the Art University and the Ars Electronica Center. The various formats are intended to provide space for discussion and reflection, says Neumann, who is looking forward to many interesting discussions and ideas for future urban development – including around sustainable building, inclusion and high architectural quality.

A symposium will take place at the AEC on April 18th, with speakers from Munich, Vienna, Graz and Oslo taking part in the podium. The Linz city strategy is just as much a topic there as the city center concept or the university district master plan. On April 20th and 21st, visitors to the AEC can expect presentations and open workshops under the motto “More than a planet”.

Those interested can visit the exhibition “More than a Building” at the art university from April 18th, and on April 19th there will be a discussion on future-oriented collaborations in architectural education, as well as a bike tour to construction projects using sustainable materials. There’s also a lot going on in the Tabakfabrik on April 19th: with tours of the Falk & Art Magazine house, the Grand Garage or the entire area, as well as workshops where, for example, in cooperation with the art university, there will be insights into current experiments on earth construction with robotics.
