A survey conducted by the Insa Institute on behalf of the Bild am Sonntag newspaper shows that as many as 61% of German citizens live in fear of the spread of Russian aggression to Western countries. Only 31% of respondents believe that the probability of such a scenario is low.
The survey also asked about the situation of Ukrainian refugees in Germany, who ended up there as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine two years ago. Only 28% of respondents believe that the process of integration of these people is going well. The vast majority, 51%, consider it unsuccessful.
In addition, almost half of the population (49%) believe that refugees receive too much support in Germany. Only 5% of respondents believe that aid to Ukrainians should be increased. At the same time, more than a third of respondents (35%) believe that the current support is at a sufficient level.
An earlier survey commissioned by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) showed that many Europeans are pessimistic about Kyiv’s chances of victory.
