The police have identified the newborn found in Suure-Lähtru and its mother’s DNA, but since the mother’s DNA is not in the forensic laboratory, according to Vello Palmitsa, chief investigator of the Haapsalu police station, it is only helpful in finding the mother. When identifying the mother, DNA can be used to confirm that she is indeed the woman who gave birth to the child.
