The Prime Minister formed a committee to reduce government expenditure

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to reduce the expenses of the federal government. The Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard according to which the committee will consist of 7 members which will present an action plan to reduce government expenditure and submit its report to the Prime Minister within a week.

The chairman of the committee will be the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission while it includes Secretary Cabinet Division, Secretary Finance Division, Secretary I&P Rashid Mahmood Langriyal. Dr. Qaiser Bengali, Dr. Farrukh Saleem, Dr. Muhammad Naveed Iftikhar are also included in the committee. It will set TROs to reduce expenditure and review the national austerity report of the Finance Division.
The objective of the committee will be institutional reforms and reduction of the size of the federal government for which the committee will decide the strategy and make an implementation plan. The committee will give pension scheme, PSDP or other suggestions to reduce the expenditure.
