The Saussurea garden on Mont Blanc is ready for reopening

by admin

The space located at Skyway’s Pavillon station houses 900 species of plants and flowers and an insect house

On the Mont Blanc massif, the Saussurea botanical garden is ready to welcome visitors for the summer season 2021. From 26 June this corner of flowers and plants located at 2,175 meters above sea level, at the first Skyway Monte Bianco station, will open its doors to the public which will thus be able to go back along the paths that wind through the 900 species from the Alps and other mountain ranges in the world.

The renewed exhibition itinerary, the result of the work carried out within the European project Jardinalp financed by the ERDF, begins in the new small chalet equipped with information material for visits to the botanical garden and from the house that houses the insects of Saussurea.

Through the rocks, the environments and the in-depth stops, exploration is within everyone’s reach thanks to the ramps and easy accesses.

The garden born on the will of Laurent Ferretti takes its name from the rare Saussurea Alpina, in turn named in honor of Horace Benedict de Saussure, the Swiss scholar who in 1786 promoted the first ascent of Mont Blanc.
